Swiftec dpf software12/7/2022 ![]() Some DPF systems use the EGR system to aid the rise of the exhaust gas temperatures to help perform a DPF regeneration. The DPF is a visual inspection at the MOT if it looks to be tampered with it’ll fail the MOT The filter looks like a ceramic honeycomb, make sure you ONLY remove the DPF and not the CAT (Catalytic Converter). The DPF needs to be removed from the car and the filter internals needs to be knocked out. Remove the DPF via ECU Remapping – Cheap, fast but doesn’t comply with MOT / Government regulations.Remove DPF and deep clean – Takes lots of time and needs the car to be off the road for days.Clean the DPF using the REDox DPF Cleaner – Expensive but complies with MOT / Government regulations.Replace the DPF – Expensive but complies with MOT / Government regulations. In cases when the car is driven around town in stop start style driving (In traffic) the DPF can’t perform a regen and then therefore becomes BLOCKED. Then driven on the motorway for a minimum time, distance, speed and RPM. To perform a REGEN the car must meet certin conditions such as Have a least quarter of a tank of fuel, have sufficient engine oil, have working EGR, glow plug and other components. At this point the DPF must perform a DPF regeneration to clean itself. This unfiltered soot can be breathed into the respiratory system, the DPF catches this SOOT in the DPF then after some time once the DPF becomes filled / blocked. The DPF is fitted to try and help lower emissions and to catch small particulates found in the exhaust gases made by diesel engines. Q1 – How DPF’s work and why do we have them?įirstly DPF stands for Diesel Particulate Filter. Many questions are raised on DPF Delete: How do I do it? Which we will cover below: ![]()
